Picking a charitable organization to invest in is quite the task in 2016. Luckily, investors in United Way of Northern New Mexico’s Community Action Fund leave the choosing up to the experts in the field of nonprofit work.
United Way of Northern New Mexico (UWNNM) works in the communities of Northern New Mexico and has a deep understanding of what challenges we face and where the gaps in services exist. This year UWNNM started taking aim in one area that is the root cause of many issues in Northern New Mexico, behavioral health.
“From our past three years of research, we are confident that pointing nonprofits in this direction and supplying more resources in the behavioral health area that we will start seeing dramatic impacts on lives.” UWNNM Executive Director Kristy Ortega said.
In 2015, Community Action Funds directly reached 22 percent of the population in Los Alamos and Rio Arriba. Of course, the 22 percent are those who need these resources the most.
This year, 38 nonprofits asked for more than $1 million. The Community Action Fund rewarded 35 of those nonprofits (38 total programs) who United Way of Northern New Mexico has partnered with through the Community Action Fund. We thank all of our Community Action Fund Investors for supporting these programs and for continuing to invest in United Way of Northern New Mexico!
